What has Will’s journey been to date?
The induction was a two week process with one week being with a trainer at STB and the other week being with our provider, Calibre. Calibre really helped give me a good overview of the motor industry that has helped me with many aspects of my role. On the final day I undertook and passed my SAF Expert test.
I then moved into the Customer Services department where I have started to learn some of the admin tasks, roles and responsiblities associated with the team. I successfully passed the trainee phase of the placement and started to assist customers which gave me more confidence speaking to people over the phone. Recently I moved over to the Payouts department where I have already learned new skills in order to check documentation. I’m in training to get my payout mandate and once this has been achieved I will start work as a regular member of the team.
What is next for Will?
After my current placement I will be moving over to join our underwriting or collections teams.
What does Will like about the job and the apprenticeship?
I wake up everyday looking forward to getting to work and learning something new. I enjoy the people I work with, the training, the tasks that I undertake, the office I work in, the environment, the workplace values. There hasn’t been a day yet which I haven’t enjoyed!
All of the learning under the apprenticeship is brand new which is really stimulating and empowering. I particularly like carrying out research - whether that’s online or through speaking to experienced colleagues.
Where does Will see himself in five years?
I would like to still be working in the finance industry and be a manager at the top of my field. I would very much like to still be with the Secure Trust Bank as I have had such a positive experience with them so far.
