National Apprenticeship Week 2019

National Apprenticeship Week 2019

In dealerships and motor finance companies throughout the UK, National Apprenticeship Week was celebrated in March, and the FLA spoke to some of its members and training providers to find out more about the first cohort of Motor Finance Specialist apprentices.

We spoke to three motor finance firms, Toyota Financial Services, BMW Financial Services, and Secure Trust Bank, to learn how they’ve used the apprenticeship to meet their strategic business goals and create talent pipelines.

We interviewed six apprentices from across the businesses, finding out about their backgrounds, why they’d decided to become an apprentice and what they thought of the role so far. You can read the case studies here.

Calibre, a training provider working with businesses in the finance and retail space, gave their opinion on why the apprenticeship works for dealer groups:

“This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity for large and small dealer groups to train (upskill) existing sales executives that have shown an aptitude for selling finance and thereby developing their next tranche of professional F&I Specialists from within.  No matter what size of retailer, the apprenticeship is a great way to formalise talent planning for the future and is focussed on ensuring the customer experience is delivered at the highest level possible at all times.”

The FLA is keen to engage with any firms in the motor retail sector thinking of adding to their apprenticeship offering so do get in touch if you have any questions.
